: thanks for the ZnCl flux suggeastion

: after the post I thought that my description may not be entirely accurate...
: actually it is not the lead that is cracked, it's the old solder.
: Is there a way of "desoldering" such as a wick or suction that is worth pursuing ??

I make my living from restoration. I don't think I ever saw cracked solder. It's the lead that the solder is on that cracks.
But, if I'm wrong. There is no need to remove the old solder. Clean, flux and resolder. You may not even need any new solder.
